Designing Beautiful Accessory Living Spaces
What is an Accessory Dwelling Unit?
An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) is a secondary housing unit located on the same lot as a primary residence. ADUs can take various forms, including:
1. Detached ADU: A separate, standalone building, such as a cottage or small house.
2. Attached ADU: A unit that is attached to the primary residence, often with its own entrance.
3. Garage Conversion: Converting an existing garage into a living space.
4. Basement or Attic Conversion: Repurposing a basement or attic area into a livable unit.
5. Internal ADU: A separate unit within the main house, such as a converted section of the home.
ADUs typically include a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living area, making them fully functional living spaces. They are popular for providing additional housing options, such as rental income, guest accommodations, or multi-generational living arrangements.
NOTE: SOME CITIES MAY NOT ALLOW CERTAIN TYPES OF ADU’S. VERIFY WITH LOCAL BUILDING CODES. Or give us a call and we can check during the reseach phase of your new project.
